OSIACA News
I have received some feedback that my previous picture did not emphasize my good looks so I hope everyone enjoys my high school graduation picture.
With this month celebrating Columbus Day, I am excited about all the activities happening around Northern California. From San Francisco to Redding, celebrations are happening everywhere. Our dear friend and brother Tony Ricevuto is doing a tremendous job on detouring the Anti Christopher Columbus attacks. I ask people all the time to name two of the most incredible events that have occurred in history. A lot of people answer the landing on the moon, but nobody answers Christopher Columbus landing in the New World Bahamas (Not America). Think about it. Everyone thought the World was flat. If you kept sailing West, you would eventually fall off the earth. Christopher Columbus proved everyone wrong. He opened Trade worldwide thanks to his diligence and fortitude.
The Conference of Presidents have produced and printed a great brochure featuring arguments and salient research to combat the attacks on our historic navigator. Go to the Conference of Presidents website for more information. I learned that there was a wonderful museum in Los Angeles called the Italian American Museum of Los Angeles. It is located at 644 N Main St., Los Angeles, CA 90012. Tony Ricevuto said that it is a must see so I encourage all of you when in L.A. visit it. I know I will on my next trip there.
On a sad note, I had the extreme honor to attend and sing at my dear friend John Staiti’s Celebration of Life gathering and what an assemblage. John was past President of Gold Country Lodge #2705. There were over two hundred people consisting of friends and family in attendance. What a Celebration! It exemplified the best of traditional Italian gatherings with plenty of the Three “F’s,” Family, Food and Fraternity. John would always come up to you and shake your hand and say, “How you doing kid?.” John, until we meet again, God Bless and you will be missed. So as John would do, I extend my hand out to you all and say, “How you doing kids?.”
