Message From the State President

I was unable to attend the Grand Council but thank goodness for Zoom.  I was able to participate in the discussions and be a part of the action while being able to be home helping my husband.  Moving into the 21st century is certainly making life easier.  I can’t thank our First Vice President, Pauline Richmond enough for helping lead the Council meeting.  Anna Graeber, thank you for connecting me on Zoom.  Thank you, President Steve Guthrie, of the Centinela Valley Lodge, Annette Porter, and Brian Singuglia for putting us up and your help in setting up and getting food for our Council and guests.

I am looking forward to our Convention in June.  I would like to remind everyone that the condition of the Grand Lodge not being charged for meeting rooms depends on the number of room nights we bring to the venue.  We need all our delegates to stay at the location under the OSDIA reservation.  If you want to extend your time here in Reno at another facility, please do, but please stay at the hotel that we have engaged during the Convention.  Remember we have gone with the hotel that was willing to negotiate rates and that was done to save money for all.  If we don’t make our committed room nights, we will be fined.

Speaking of Convention, I am excited about the Bocce tournament, the breakout session planned, and the meals being served.  I hope that everyone will enjoy seeing old friends and making new ones.  This is an election year.  If you have completed one year as a delegate, you are eligible to run for any position but President.  Just write a letter of intent and send it to our Grand Lodge office either by email or snail mail.

We are still looking for the perfect place to call home, but in the meantime, the temporary office is working well.  Now that I can’t get around, I appreciate Lori Rossi, Lynn Murphy and Louie Lodi for spending time with the things I can’t address.

Till next month

Fraternally
Barbara
