Another year is quickly passing by and summer will soon be over. Northern Solano Lodge has been especially busy this past month. Our members have been very generous with our school supply project. The project, under the chairmanship of Charlene Ping, collected and distributed $1530 worth of supplies and cash to the teachers and students of Suisun Elementary School.
For our monthly meeting in August, we held our annual Gene Bruno Picnic – an indoor picnic where we did not have to brave the heat. Our kitchen crew supplied the main meal with members bringing appetizers,
At the writing of this article, we are at a time when in Napa it feels like spring AND summer. This pokes me to reflect that in our esteemed organization, the Order Sons and Daughters of Italy in America, the power of "AND" runs deep within our very fabric. All hands were on deck clapping thunderously for our four new members, who were initiated on July 20th at our Chapter’s Tri tip dinner by past president of Sacramento Lodge #1352, Dan Marinelli. With the heaviest of hearts we share the passing of our sister Margaret. Her passing leaves the Napa Lodge at the end of an era as she was our last surviving charter member of 68 years. Margaret was active within the lodge for many years as she fulfilled various officer positions, she served us as our President for 6 years and our Immediate Past President for 8 years. Our last meeting went off smoothly. Our new president John Albini, is getting more relaxed each time we have a meeting. The microphone is now his friend. John gave time for members to speak with their ideas and concerns and it was all good.
