OSIACA News
Italian American heritage night at the Humboldt Crabs baseball game on July 26th resulted in an exciting Crabs victory over the Medford Oregon Rogues and a lot of fun for Sons and Daughters of Italy members and Italophiles in attendance.
Gina and Alissa Luzzi, Michele Weston, and Gary Paoli and his children Phoebe, Tristan and Thomas did a great job of decorating the Arcata ballpark before the game.
Gina and Michelle arranged for Italian music on the sound system and Chianti wine and Peroni beer to be sold at the bar to set the mood among the Crab baseball fans.
Julie Stagnoli and Laura Lazzarotto sold fifty bags of delicious biscotti. Special thank yous to the members who baked for this event.
The Eureka Lodge donated 200 Italian sausages and buns to the Crabs organization to sell to the overflow crowd.
Thank you to Bill Chino of The Basement Bar & Lounge (in Arcata’s Jacoby Storehouse) for donating the onions and peppers (and chopping them up) and for procuring and delivering the sausages and buns from Costco.
Crabs baseball was founded by Lou Bonomini and Ned Barsuglia in 1945 as the Eureka Paladini Crabs. (Named for their original sponsor the Paladini Fish Company.)
